Today I will be master of my emotions Part 4

Psalm 51:10-11
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”

The word “create” in this verse is the same one used in Genesis 1:1 and refers only to what God can do. David was asking that his heart be renewed, restored, and transformed. God is the only source of such a renewal. If we really want to take hold of our emotions we have to realize that it is God who is going to restore, renew and transform us. We can’t get this from any one other person or source, we must lean on God to allow the Holy Spirit to work within us and create a clean heart.

Let’s say this prayer,
“Heavenly Father I come before you humbly today and ask that you create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Take away my past hurts, my past fears, my past pain and my past failures and help me to walk in Your path and plan you have for me. Thank you Lord for you presence and for you never leaving me or forsaking me. O Lord I praise you for it today and it is in Jesus name. Amen”

Today I will be master of my emotions Part 3

1 Thessalonians 4:18
“Therefore encourage each other with these words.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Today I am going to let you in on a little secret. If you truly want to change your mood from bad to good, encourage someone. Make it real, but find something to compliment and encourage someone on. It does not have to be that hard, if you truly notice something about someone like their shoes, their hair if they are having a good hair day (sorry married to a stylist), their outfit, etc. Then truly compliment them and don’t make it fake. Make sure you are genuinely complimenting someone or just let someone know that God has plans for them, plans for a hope and a future.

My challenge to you today is be encouraging to someone today.

Today I will be master of my emotions Part 2

Galatians 5:22-23
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things.”

Jesus said, “By their fruit you will recognize them.” How is your fruit? If you were to literally take a fruit temperature check how would you do? I think that is what we need to realize is we need to posses these fruits of the Holy Spirit and this is how we will be recognized in Heaven. I know that my worst fear is to get to Heaven and have Jesus say, “I never knew you.”

So today say this prayer with me:
“Father in heaven, please help me to produce the fruits of the spirit, guide me in my ways and make my paths straight. Let me always be directed by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Help me to reflect Your image inside me when I speak to other people. I thank You for it, in Jesus name.”

Today I will be master of my emotions

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Each day you have a choice on how you want to be. Are you going to be happy or sad? You should not waste a minute worrying about things that never come to pass. I have heard so much fear and doubt about today’s and all the news has been feeding us. Know we operate in Gods economy and the word says that He did not give us the spirit of fear. This scripture also talks to us differently in the Message, it says, “God does not want us to be shy with His gifts but bold and loving and sensible.” So, remember today to be bold and to have self-control to share the gifts God has given you.

Today be bold through Him!

I will live this day as if it is my last Part 4

Romans 8:37
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Be completely encouraged today to know that you are more than a conqueror, you are completely victorious, and be convinced that nothing, I mean nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable can come between you and God’s love for you. Does that not fire you up?

Today know that you can overcome procrastination with action, bury doubt with faith, destroy fear with confidence and change your bad day into a glorious day!!!

Know that today nothing can separate you from Gods Love!!!

I will live this day as if it is my last Part 3

Matt 6:11
“Give us today our daily bread”

Our daily bread is Gods word. The Bible is the living, breathing word of God. I heard a quote from Jentzen Franklin saying, “When you read the word, the word reads you.” It is so true, whenever I am going through something or just need to hear from God, I will be reading the word and that is when he speaks to me. God communicates to us in several different ways and he will never contradict His word. If you are ever in question to what He is saying you can back it up with the word.

Today pick up your Bible and get into the word and see the living and breathing scriptures start speaking to you.

I will live this day as if it is my last Part 2

Luke 23:43
Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

This exact scripture changed my life forever. I still remember reading it shortly after watching the movie The Passion of the Christ on 2/26/04. Stacey and I were driving to New Orleans to stay the night and then going on to Dallas. We stopped and purchased our first Bible. And I was curious as to how accurate the movie was to the Bible, so I started reading while driving. I read Matthew, Mark, and then Luke on the crucifixion, and this verse I started literally crying and saying to myself “how could someone love us that much?” And it was at that moment I committed my life to Christ and never looked back!! Jesus was on the Cross and dying and praying to His Father to forgive the people who put him up there, “for they do not know what they are doing” in verse 34. Then it says two criminals hung there with him. One hurled insults at him and one rebuked the other and then in verse 42 he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” How could he love someone that much?

At that moment I realized it was not only the criminal He loved and He also loved me. He died for me and He died for you.

So be encouraged today to know that Jesus died on the cross for YOU!

I will live this day as if it is my last Part 1

Psalm 118:24
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

What would you do if this was your last day on earth? Have you ever thought about that? Each day is a gift from God and we need to make sure to rejoice and be glad in it. Glad in this text in Hebrew means to brighten up. Let’s go out today and figure out a way to brighten up someone’s day. Think if somehow today if everyone you looked at smiled, would that change your mood? Well it could happen, today your challenge is to smile at everyone you make eye contact with, just try it out and see what happens.

Rejoice today and brighten up someone else’s day!!!

Nature's Greatest Miracle Part 4

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not too harm you, plans for a hope and a future.”

Now come on, you knew I would quote this. But the awesome thing about this verse is to know that not only is it a miracle we are here, but to also know that God has plans for us. Now do not doubt for a minute that the enemy also has plans for you, but I can guarantee you God’s plans, “to prosper you and for a hope and a future” are much better than then enemies plan. As Jesse Duplantis says, if you don’t know where you are going how are you going to know when you get there? Know that in business as well, if you do not have set plans even in business there are other people, possibly even your boss who is going to have a plan for you and it might not be in your best interest. But when you press into God by reading the word, praying daily, being in a fellowship of believers (church) and praising him for what he has done in our lives, then you truly won’t be able to know what His plans are for him.

Today figure out what exactly you can do to Press In to Him. So let’s press in today so we can know the plans He has for us and not let the enemy have a foothold! Press in.

Nature's Greatest Miracle Part 3

Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

You were created by God in his image. If you ever look at yourself in the mirror and think negatively of yourself, just remember that you were created in His image. Now, I am not saying to let yourself go because God gave us our temple (our body) and we are to take care of the temple where the Holy Spirit dwells. But I am saying you need to be happy with yourself, be confident in yourself, be glad that God created you and remember to remain humble.

God created you and as stated yesterday you are fearfully and wonderfully made, in His image. So, today know you are created by the same God, who gave His only son to the world so we could have eternal life.

Nature's Greatest Miracle Part 2

Psalm 139:13-14
“For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (NIV)

Before you were born, God had a plan for you. He has plans for you and today you need to know that he created you fearfully and wonderfully by His works. You are a masterpiece and God needs you to do his work. God has called us to do His work, we can’t do His part and He won’t do our part. So today remember to do your part and know that before you were even conceived God created you in this exact time, in this exact place and in this day and age to do His work.

Glorify God today in the work that you do.

Nature's Greatest Miracle

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in him.” (NKJV)

Isn’t it awesome to know that you are one of a kind? There is no one who is on this planet or ever walked on this planet that is exactly like you. We are His workmanship or as the NLT version says we are His masterpiece. Know today that God created you for a reason. God created you at the perfect time and he has planned in advance for us to live our lives doing. Be encouraged to know that His plans for you are for a hope and a future, not to harm you. You are living today as a unique person like no other.

So today be encouraged that God created you to do his good works and He gives you the ability to do it. You like no other person and you were created in the image of God.

Battlefield of the Mind Part 5

Prov 3.5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”

If there is anything I can’t stress more, it is make sure you are leaning on God and if you do, trust me He will direct your paths, make them straight, bring you success, and keep you on track. If you want to stay on track with Gods plan lean on Him. Alright guys, I am going to get a little theological with you but stay with me. A few words stick out to me here in Proverbs let’s look at them: the word lean in the Hebrew text means; stay, and rely and the Hebrew word for acknowledge text means; perceive, knowledge and know. So what I am getting at is how do you rely on Him, how do you know him? Well He left us the greatest tool of all time and it is a living and breathing text called the Holy Bible. Too many times I am asked, “Well you know I just don’t know if that is Gods will for my life.” If you truly want to know what Gods will for your life is, get into the WORD. READ your Bible, which is the best way to KNOW Him, to communicate with Him and to lean and rely on Him.

So as we close this series out, get on a reading plan. I am on a plan this year to read through the Old Testament once, New Testament two times, and Psalms two times which translates down to 4-5 chapters a day. You could just start out with 3-4 chapters a day and read the entire bible in a year. Or just start with 1-2 chapters if needed, but get into the word.

Battlefield of the Mind Part 4

Philippians 4:8-9
“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll be best by filing your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not he ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into His most excellent harmonies.”

We are in a time today where we need to make sure we are focusing on these things rather than the world around us. We operate in God’s economy, we operate in the Kingdom of the most high GOD, and we are operating in a God, who supplies all our needs according to His riches and Glory. We are created in the image of God, we are more than conquerors, you are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, you are blessed in the city and in the country, blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you; they will come at you in one direction and flee in seven.

Today I want you to read Deuteronomy 23:1-14 and believe every one of these promises!

Battlefield of the Mind Part 3

Psalm 139:1-5
“God investigate my life, get all the facts firsthand. I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and your there, then up ahead and you’re there, too—your reassuring presence, coming and going.”

How does this verse speak to you today?

God knows everything about us and he is always there to know what we are doing. Even when we are alone, on the internet, reading, and he knows what we are doing at all times. Many times we all think well no one is looking, if I were just too . . . No don’t do it because God knows what we are doing. But know He is there for us also to lean on in our weak times and praise in our strong times. He is always there.

Battlefield of the Mind Part 2

Proverbs 23:7
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

What powerful words to meditate on. We need to be continually be thinking of ourselves as what we want to be, whether it is successful, compassionate, wealthy, friendly, confident but humble, or anything we want to be according to the word of God. A lot of times we reach out and need other people to inspire us when in reality we need to learn to be able to be self motivated, self inspired and be continually searching out things that encourage us to think positively. If we are filling our minds with negative thoughts, worldly views, or the economy we will find ourselves worried, fearful and depressed.

Today figure out what you can do differently to motivate and inspire yourself and if you do please share.

Battlefield of the Mind Part 1

Romans 12:2
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

I was led to share with you this week about the battlefield that is in our mind. The spiritual battle has already been won; it is the battle in our mind we have to be prepared for. The enemy can’t beat us in the spirit because Jesus already won that for us, but it is in our free will our free mind where the enemy attacks. The enemy starts with something small that you don’t really see as wrong and then he turns it into some type of blatant sin. We must refrain from it and how? By the Word of God, memorize scriptures in an area you are struggling in, read the Word daily, and make sure to pray daily.

Today find the area you are struggling in whether it be finances, marriage, parenting, lust, pride of life, unforgiveness, etc. But find the scriptures that will support you in these areas and memorize them.

Do You Have The Power? Part 5

Luke 10:19
“Listen, I give you power to walk on snakes and scorpions, power that is greater than the enemy has. So nothing will hurt you.”

The answer to the question of the week is YES you do have the power. It speaks in Acts where Paul was bitten by poisonous snakes and should have died but he had the POWER. It also talks about Peter and where he walked even his shadow healed people, I would say that is the POWER. The same spirit that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us and He gives us the POWER to do the things we cant but He can if we allow Him to operate in our lives, follow His will and believe with the Faith.

Now that you know that you have the POWER, what are you going to do with it??

Do You Have The Power? Part 4

Isaiah 40:29
“He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength.”

Too many times in the past I have tried to do things in my own strength and in my on abilities. But it is God who gives us the power and strength to do things. Lately I have been pulled out of my area of strength and placed right into the middle of something that is totally new to me. At Citi, I knew the answer to just about most questions and if I did not I had an easy online manual or policy and procedures book to look the answer up. But in the ministry now I have to completely depend on the Holy Spirit to give me the power and strength because this is completely new to me and as I work in a church plant there are not a policies and procedures manual to refer back to. I really believe that when God wants to stretch you He pulls you out of your comfort zone and into His zone.

Today be willing to take a step out of your comfort zone.

Do You Have The Power? Part 3

Acts 1:8
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me.”

We do have the power because when we committed our life to Christ the Holy Spirit came upon us. Now we just have to be witnesses unto Him. There is a power that we have inside us that can do some miraculous things. When you want a light to be turned on you just flip the switch right? There is actually a power source streaming electricity to that switch but you have to tap into the potential of it and turn it on. That is just like the power of God you have to tap into the power, by reading the word, attending a local church, serving, and live according to the word God has given us. Then we can prosper in the areas of life according to His purpose for us.

Do You Have The Power? Part 2

1 Corinthians 15:57
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Message translation says, “But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ.” You see it was with one stroke we became victorious! We need to be encouraged today to know that we have the victory in Jesus Christ. The same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead, if you believe lives in us now and gives us the power to overcome any situation. I have been on a 40 day fast of wrong thinking and it has impacted me greatly. To many times the enemy wants to throw darts at us and let us know we are not worthy, we are not capable, we are not skilled enough. We need to know that we might not be able or capable but the Holy Spirit living inside of us has the capability and the ability and know today that He always has the availability anytime you need Him.

Today know that you are victorious through Jesus Christ!

Do You Have The Power?

2 Timothy 1:7“God did not give me the spirit of fear, but the spirit of POWER and of love and a sound mind.”

Sometimes I think to myself, “Why can’t I do that” or “Why could I have not thought of that” or “Why not me God?” God has a purpose for us in our lives and He gives us the power to do the things we want to. You see God is so awesome, he gave us the free will and that is why we can choose to follow Him or not. Now there are consequences for not following Him, but that is for another place and another blog. What we will be talking about this week is what can we do, what is in our power? God gave us power, and love and a sound mind and we have to believe that every day and not allow the fears the worlds tries to put out and place in our mind.

Today memorize this verse and anytime you begin to limit yourself, worry or fear say this verse.
