This is continued from “I AM HE” post from yesterday. It talks about after Jesus said this in John 18:7 He asks again;
“Who is it you want?”
And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
You see they came to take Him and arrest Him but He had some of His disciples with Him and I believe that in verse 4, 6 and verse 8 , He was emphasizing that Jesus cared for the disciples even as He was going to His death. Twice he made them say plainly that He was the one they wanted.
And then to continue in Verse 8:
“I told you that I am he,” Jesus answered. “If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” This happened so that the words He had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”
